At Instil, artificial intelligence is at the core of what we do, but so is trust. This document explains clearly and completely how AI is used within our platform, what data is involved, and the controls you have over every aspect of it. Whether you’re a new customer evaluating our platform or a long-standing partner, we want you to know exactly how your data is handled.

After careful consideration, we chose to have Instil’s AI capabilities be powered by Anthropic. They have proven to be the leader in exploring the benefits of AI with a focus on safety. We operate under Anthropic’s commercial partner agreement, which includes an explicit contractual prohibition on using partner customer data to train Anthropic’s AI models. This is not a self-imposed policy, it is a binding contractual commitment made by one of the world’s leading AI organizations.

AI-Powered Features

The following capabilities are available within the Instil platform. Each section notes whether the feature is enabled by default and how it can be configured.

Instil analyzes donor and constituent data to surface actionable insights for your major gifts team.

Portfolio Optimization

Data We Derive Through AI

As a result of AI processing, Instil generates the following derived data types on your behalf. This derived data lives within your organization’s environment and is not shared externally.

• Contribution pattern analysis and predictions
• Relationship and engagement metrics
• Behavioral segments and donor personas

Data We Never Solicit

The following categories of data are never requested, required, or stored by Instil as part of normal platform operations. We recommend against entering this information into any field within the system.

• Social Security Numbers or government-issued IDs
• Bank account or credit card numbers (payment processing is handled by certified payment partners outside Instil)
• Private financial records not publicly available
• Personal health information (PHI)
• Protected class information, unless voluntarily provided by your organization for specific program purposes and handled under your own data governance policies

Configuration Options & Opt-Out Provisions

Instil gives your organization meaningful control over AI features. Administrators can configure the following:

Human Override

AI recommendations in Instil are advisory, not autonomous. Your team always retains the right to:

• Reject any AI recommendation without impacting system behavior
• Modify AI-generated content or suggestions before use
• Disable AI features at any time without data loss or service interruption
