Software Architect

In this role you’ll help us answer key questions like:

• What does an optimal Software Development Lifecycle process that empowers the entire business look like?
• How can we design and implement a Continuous Delivery pipeline that balances rapid deployment with robust safety measures? 
• What strategies can we implement to enhance scalability while simultaneously maximizing cost efficiency?
• What architectural issues do we need to prioritize near term in order to facilitate our future success?

• Design software and architectural patterns which support our world class donor platform  
• Lead best practices on deployment, monitoring, redundancy, and code management  
• Define architectural standards and engineering best practices across our entire platform
• Set both near and long term architectural strategy 

30-60-90 Day Plan 

30 Days

• Dive deep to fully understand the product, tech stack, and current architectural patterns
• Contribute in some hands on way in the code to fully understand the developer experience
• Work with Product, Marketing, and Sales to get a firm understanding of the business from both a tactical and strategic level

60 Days

• Establish a strategic baseline for CI/CD, Monitoring, Security, & Resiliency that meets our near term needs
• Implement any necessary steps to harden our current posture in the above areas
• Work with the team to set expectations of code completeness, quality, and general engineering hygiene

90 Days

• Establish the long term enterprise class strategy to meet our needs in the areas of Scalability, Availability, Observability, Security, and Resiliency
• Participate in Product Strategy and Roadmap discussions to ensure technical alignment with Product needs
• Collaborate with leadership to define technical baselines that will establish Instil's engineering team as a world class product development organization

• About 8+ years of SaaS software engineering experience
• Meaningful experience architecting solutions with tools in our stack: 
  • Frontend: Typescript, React, Next.js, Tailwind, Relay-GraphQL, 
  • Backend: Python, Django, Strawberry-GraphQL, PostgreSQL, 
  • Infra: AWS, Terraform, Render, Netlify, GitHub
• Ideally, experience in both enterprise and startup environments
• A highly collaborative team-first oriented approach to work 
• A drive for helping to create cohesion and alignment across multiple teams

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $180-$200k plus equity and annual bonus.
